Việt Nam will focus on controlling inflation and boosting production in the second half in order to realize socio-economic goals in 2010, said the Government chief.
PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng made the emphasis today in Hà Nội at the Government’s regular meeting of June.
The two-day video-conference drew the participation of Cabinet members and local leaders of 63 municipal cities and provinces to discuss on the Government’s performance in the first half and seek solutions to fulfill the national targets in the rest of the year.
Comprehensive achievements in first half…
Reports show that GDP in the first half is forecast to surge by around 6.16% against the same period last year.
Major sectors saw big leaps in which the production of agriculture-forestry-fishery, industry and services increased by 3.31%, 6.5% and 7.05% respectively.
Export was on the rise with a US $32.1 billion turnover and the trade deficit was slashed down to US $6.7 billion which accounts for 20.9% of the export turnover.
However, there remain numerous difficulties such as severe droughts, power shortage nationwide, high inflation rates, unsecured food hygiene, traffic jams, and unsustainable poverty reduction.
… and top measures for the second
The Government chief called upon his inferiors to further deploy measures on macro-economic stability, inflation curbing, economic growth, social welfare, and national security in the last six months.
Specially, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), and the State Bank of Việt Nam were asked to ensure macro-economic stability, rein in inflation, reduce budget overspending, facilitate production and business of both domestic and foreign enterprises.
The MoIT, the Việt Nam Electricity (EVN) group and relevant agencies must guarantee power supply for business and consumption.
The PM also requested for effective renovation, arrangement and equitization of State-owned enterprises (SOEs) as the Law on State Enterprises expired in July 1 and SOEs operate in line with the Law on Enterprises./.
