In Singapore, during July 17th and July 18th, two important events took place for preparation for cooperation process after 2015 period. Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) organized Policy Dialogue on "ASEAN Economic Community After 2015 Agenda Program" and the opening ceremony of the research book "ASEAN 2030". Mr. Nguyen Ba Toan - Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department led Ministry of Finance's delegation attending this event.
Secretary General of ASEAN - Le Luong Minh attended and had an important speech. Attending the event, there were senior officials of Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade, Embassies of 10 ASEAN Member States, Representatives of ASEAN Secretariat, APEC Secretariat and ADB Organizations, AMRO, ADBI and ISEAS leaders and staffs, researchers, professors and experts in Southeast Asia area.
The research book "ASEAN 2030 - Toward a Borderless Economic Community" was editted by ADBI. In the 1960s, ASEAN was established to solve issues about politics and security. Research "ASEAN 2030" shows that AEC should be regarded as an indirect step for deeper integration. Until 2030, ASEAN needs to develop into a borderless economic community.
Participating in the dialogue, Vietnam's delegation had a discussion about macroeconomic stability and finance market development. The target of building a borderless economic community in 2030 is ambitious. Vietnam hoped that there will be an united ASEAN, together going through challenges to form a real ASEAN economic community.
Ending the policy dialogue, the delegation claimed that this is a precious opportunity to discuss about ASEAN's long-term issues. The discussion went successfully, making a basis for coming researches and exchanges to build agenda programs for ASEAN's development and integration strengthening process in the upcoming time.
